Celtics rookies helping out off the bench

Blogged under Front Page,Rookie Report by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 12 December 2006 at 6:31 pm

1st round pick Rajon Rondo has been a decent player off the bench that really rachets up the defense when he comes into the game. Rondo has played in 18 games and averaged 17.0 minutes, 3.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He could be a starter someday soon for the Celtics.

Leon Powe has played well when given some playing time. Powe has played in 11 games and averaged 10.8 minutes, 3.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.1 assists per game. Powe is also hitting 51.7% from the floor. He looks like a keeper too.

Allen Ray hasn’t really played that much yet. He has played in 3 games and has averaged 3.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

The Celtics draft looks like it might have been a good one.

Theo Ratliff could be done for the season (and maybe his career) with a serious back injury. That’s too bad for Ratliff and the Celtics who could use his defensive presence.

Kendrick Perkins out at least 3 more weeks

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Monday 11 December 2006 at 11:12 pm

The starting center of the Celtics will miss at least three more weeks with a sore left foot due to plantar fascitis. This will give Al Jefferson an extended chance at playing time. It might be hard for Perkins to get his job back when he returns.
