The Celtics lose again 103-96 to the Pacers in Indiana

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 30 January 2007 at 10:46 pm

The Celtics played no defense tonight as they allowed the Pacers to shoot 53.6% from the floor and that caused them to lose their 12th game in a row. Al Jefferson led the way for the Celtics with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Gerald Green added 14 points. Ryan Gomes wound up with 13 points and 4 rebounds.

Season has been a disaster for the Celtics

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 29 January 2007 at 4:44 pm

The Celtics have lost 11 games in a row and now sit at 12-31 on the season, which is two games ahead of the Grizzlies for the worst record in the NBA. It seems like someone has a voodoo doll and has been sticking needles in the Celtics players. Paul Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak and Tony Allen (out for season) have all missed big chunks of the season. Those players have combined to average 54.7 points, 14.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game and that is far too much for any NBA team to replace.Â

Al Jefferson has really played well since he’s been moved into the starting lineup as he’s averaging 14.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this season. Ryan Gomes also has played well this season as he’s averaging 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season. Delonte West has been moved into the starting lineup to replace the disappointing Sebastian Telfair. He’s averaging 10.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game and those numbers will improve with the new starting job. Gerald Green is also playing well with the extended playing time and he’s averaging 8.8 points per game. The Celtics need young players like Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins to pick up their play a little bit.

The only thing for the Celtics to look forward to is the draft lottery as they will get a good chance to get Greg Oden.

The Celtics lose again 105-91 in Boston to the Wizards

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Monday 29 January 2007 at 10:54 am

The Celtics got outscored 56-41 in the second half and that did them in last night. The Celtics only shot 39% from the floor as a team and were outrebounded 51-38 by the Wizards and those factors helped do them in again!  Delonte West had a great game with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists and 3 steals. Ryan Gomes was solid around the basket with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Gerald Green pitched in with 14 points and 3 rebounds.

The Celtics lost their 10th game in a row tonight! They played well for three quarters but the Raptors outscored them 27-19 in the 4th quarter and that did them in. Al Jefferson had a monster game with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Allen Ray had a good game off the bench with 17 points and 4 rebounds. Delonte West had another solid game running the point with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Celtics lose again 82-76 to the Hawks in Boston

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 25 January 2007 at 4:28 pm

The Celtics looked decent in the first half as they built a 44-29 halftime lead. But, the Celtics got dominated 53-32 in the second half and lost their 9th game in a row. The Celtics only hit 31.6% from the floor last night and they will never beat anyone in the NBA playing like that. Delonte West led the way for the Celtics with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Kendrick Perkins also had a solid game with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Kendrick Perkins needs to step up

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 12:32 pm

Kendrick Perkins better step up soon or he will be nailed to the bench when Pierce and Szczerbiak return from their injuries. Perkins lost his starting job to Al Jefferson but he’s getting expanded minutes due to all the injuries that have hit the Celtics. In his last 7 games, he’s averaged 21.1 minutes, 3.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Those numbers are pathetic for a player of his size. It almost seems like he’s just going thru the motions on the basketball court.

West & Jefferson steppin’ up for the Celtics

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 12:25 pm

The Celtics have lost 8 games in a row, but their has been a few bright spots despite all the losing. Delonte West has replaced Sebastian Telfair as the starting point guard and he’s been on fire. In his three starts since taking over, he’s averaged 21.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game. The offense as a whole has been playing much better with West in control. Hopefully the Celtics will start winning some of these close games soon.

Al Jefferson has be an absolute beast lately. In his last 7 games, Jefferson is averaging 16.4 points, 13.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.6 blocks! Those are All-Star numbers. Jefferson will likely be a starter for the rest of his career and a future fixture in the All-Star game if he keeps his production at this level. When Paul Pierce and Wally Szczerbiak both return, his numbers could even get better as teams won’t gang up on him inside.

Celtics give great effort but lose 93-89 to the Spurs in Boston

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Monday 22 January 2007 at 11:09 pm

The Celtics played a great game last night and almost pulled out a victory over the Spurs. Delonte West led the way for the Celtics with 27 points and 3 rebounds. Al Jefferson had a monster game in the paint with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Ryan Gomes also had a good game with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

Celtics demote Sebastian Telfair to third string at point guard

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 22 January 2007 at 11:54 am

Sebastian Telfair has been a huge disappointment so far this season as the Celtics made him the starting point guard at the start of the season. His poor shooting and passing have earned him a spot at the end of the bench. He is averaging only 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists per game this season. He only shot 39.5% from the floor and also heaved up alot of brick from three-point range (27.8%).

Delonte West will be elevated to the starting point guard spot. West is not a pure point guard because he’s a scorer. He is averaging 9.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game this season. Those numbers should improve with the extended playing time he will now get as long as he performs well.

Rookie Rajon Rondo will move up to the #2 spot at point guard for the Celtics. Rondo’s game is defense but he’s also an active player on offense. He is averaging 4.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game this season. Those #’s should also improve with playing time.

The Celtics had to make a move. They are in a horrible slump and alot of it has been due to poor point guard play. The point guard is the quarterback of the offense, so they had to make a move.

The Celtics fall in overtime 115-110 to the Wizards in Washington

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 21 January 2007 at 12:49 pm

The Celtics gave a great effort in this game, but it wasn’t quite enough to beat the Wizards. Ryan Gomes had an awesome game last night with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Al Jefferson also had another great night in the paint with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Allen Ray had his best game of the season with 20 points off the bench.
