Celtics lose another tough one 96-91 to the Kings in Boston

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Saturday 20 January 2007 at 4:10 pm

The Celtics played horrible in the 4th quarter as they were outscored 34-24 and that’s why they lost this game. Delonte West had a great game with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Al Jefferson had a monster game in the paint with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Ryan Gomes also had a great game inside with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Celtics need more from Sebastian Telfair

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Sunday 14 January 2007 at 6:51 pm

The Celtics thought that all Sebastian Telfair needed was a change of scenery and extended minutes to blossom as a player. To this point in the season the Celtics were wrong in their assessment. Telfair has played in 36 games and he’s averaging 27 minutes, 8.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season. He’s also been a poor shooter as he’s only hit 39.6% of his shots from the floor this season. He also should quit shooting three-pointers for awhile as he’s only hit 19 of 73 (26%) of them.  The Celtics really need Telfair to play better because of all the injuries that have beset them this season. He must make better decisions with the ball and must take better shots. Without good point guard play the young Celtics will continue to have problems scoring points.

Celtics play awful in 81-73 loss to the Pistons in Detroit

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 14 January 2007 at 6:08 pm

The Celtics played a horrible game last night as they only shot 35.8% from the floor as a team and that’s why they lost. Gerald Green led the way for the Celtics with 24 points. Ryan Gomes also had a solid game with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Al Jefferson had a monster game in the paint with 22 rebounds and 12 points.

Celtics get beat 95-86 by the Raptors in Boston

The Celtics had a rough time scoring points last night’s game. Rajon Rondo led the way for the Celtics with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Sebastian Telfair also had a decent game with 14 points and 4 assists.

The Celtics suffer two huge injuries last night

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Thursday 11 January 2007 at 2:56 pm

The Celtics lost Tony Allen (torn ACL) and Brian Salabrine (knee) in last night’s ballgame. Allen was averaging 24.4 minutes, 11.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. This is a shame because he had been playing really well with his first real chance at extended minutes on the floor for the Celtics. The Celtics will also miss his great shooting touch as he had hit 51.4% of his shots from the floor.

The extent of Brian Scalabrine’s injury is not known as of right now, but he will miss alot of time. Scalabrine was averaging 15.5 minutes, 3.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game this season.

The Celtics get smoked 97-84 to the Pacers in Boston

The Celtics played poorly last night and they may have lost guard Tony Allen for the season with a knee injury. Allen led the way for the Celtics before he was injured with 19 points and 5 steals. Sebastian Telfair had a good game last night with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Gerald Green started and scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.

Young Celtics having rough season

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 10 January 2007 at 12:44 am

The Celtics are sitting in 4th place in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Celtics are 12-21 on the season and they’re 2.5 games behind the Toronto Raptors. Injuries to Paul Pierce (26.6 points) and Wally Szczerbiak (16.9 points) have derailed the season for the Celtics. Three young players have really stepped up for the Celtics this season. Al Jefferson (13.5 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots), Tony Allen (11.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals) and Ryan Gomes (10.6 points, 5.8 rebounds) are the future of the Boston Celtics. Who knows, as pathetic as this division is, the Celtics have just as good a chance as anyone of winning it.

Theo Ratliff done for the season

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Monday 8 January 2007 at 11:14 pm

Veteran center Theo Ratliff elected to have back surgery and will likely miss the remainder of the season. He only played in 2 games for the Celtics this season. Michael Olowokandi will probably stick all season for the Celtics due to Ratliff being out.

Celtics awful in 87-79 loss to the Magic in Orlando

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 8 January 2007 at 5:19 pm

The Celtics really played awful last night as they hit 31.5% of their shots from the floor and they were outrebounded 51-31 by the Magic. You can’t blame Tony Allen for this loss because he came to play. Allen wound up with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 steals. Wally Szczerbiak had a solid game with 15 points.
