The Celtics fight hard but lose 109-95 to the Mavericks in Boston

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by alleyoop on Saturday 24 March 2007 at 2:45 pm

The Celtics only shot 36.4% from the floor and they allowed the Mavericks to hit 56.4% and that is what did them in last night. Paul Pierce only shot 5 of 18 from the floor but he still wound up with 30 points because he was 19 of 21 from the free throw line. Gerald Green backed up Pierce with 19 points and 4 rebounds.

The Celtics fell to 20-49 on the season with this loss. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore?gid=2007032302

I live in Akron, Ohio and have been a Celtics fan my entire life. It started back in the Cousey / Russell days. Havlichek is my all time fave. Bird, Archibald, McHale, Johnson all held spots in my Celtic heart. BUTTTT, what is up with ownership now days. The Celtics haven’t had a thing to cheer about for years. Paul Pierce? Pierce is a great player but you can’t survive in the NBA with 1 man on your team. We have LeBron now so I’m starting to slip into Cavalierism. I don’t want to dump the Celtics, but I am getting older by the day and Boston needs to do something. And fast !!!!

Dan, I don’t think the Celtics are that far away from being a decent basketball team. I like a lot of the young players that they have around Paul Pierce…especially that monster Al Jefferson. If the Celtics don’t get screwed in the lottery they will add another major piece of the puzzle, so don’t jump ship yet.
