The Boston Celtics look to be active in the Draft on Thursday
There’s probably a 50/50 chance of the Celtics keeping their first round pick (#5) because they seem intent on trading for a veteran star to team with Paul Pierce. If the Celtics stand pat their are a lot of things they really need to consider drafting. Delonte West is a decent guard but he’s not a true point guard and Sebastian Telfair is kind of a punk. In fact, don’t be surprised if Telfair is a throw in on a big trade on Thursday. Teams around the league seem to have a lot of interest in Gerald Green and Al Jefferson, but the Celtics should only trade Jefferson if they are getting one of the 10 best players in the NBA. Which basically means, if you can get a Kevin Garnett type of player….you do it. But you don’t trade him for a Shawn Marion or Jermaine O’Neal. I really think that the Celtics are going to make a big splash Thursday after getting screwed in the draft lottery. They have to do something major for both the fans and to keep Paul Pierce happy because he has said that he wants out if he doesn’t get some veteran help in the off-season. The Celtics own the #5 and #32 pick on Thursday.
