The Boston Celtics were smart not to trade Tony Allen

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Saturday 5 January 2008 at 1:15 pm

The Boston Celtics were smart not to trade guard Tony Allen in the Kevin Garnett trade. He was just starting to come into his own last season before he tore his ACL and he just now seems to be getting back to normal. If Allen gets back to his level of play last season he will be an assassin off of the bench for the Celtics the rest of the season. He has played in 28 games for the Celtics so far this season and he is averaging 16.5 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Tony Allen can be scorer off the bench and a defender on the wing, but he’s no point guard. He’s the perfect match up for Detroit, against Billups and Hamilton. Tony’s weakness is his handle and focus. He dribbles too high and still seems like hes slightly out of control on his drives. With that said, Danny Ainge knew Tony Allen was better than Ricky Davis.

THE CELTICS NEED TO GET RID OF TONY ALLEN YO, THIS GUY DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW HIS ROLE. HE’S MEDIOCRE AND I GIVE HIM THAT. HE HAVES POTENTIAL TO BE AN ALL AROUND PLAYER, BUT EVERY SINGLE TIME HE GETS THE BALL IT LOOKS LIKE HE WANTS TO OUT SHINE THE BIG THREE. WE BETTER HOLD ON TO RAJON RONDO REAL HONDO THIS KID IS A HALL OF FAMER IN THE MAKING. CELTICS MINUS TONY ALLEN MINUS DANNY AINGE MINUS COCK RIVERS EQUALS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

TONY ALLEN HAVES TO GO YO! PLEASE TRADE THIS GUY. HE WANTS TO GO TO THE HOLE EVERYTIME HE GETS THE BALL. DON’T YOU SEE PEOPLE! THIS GUY DOES NOT KNOW HIS ROLE. ALWAYS WANTS TO SHOOT THE BALL AND WHEN HE TRYS WAY TOO HARD, HE FILES UP.HE MISSES THE EASIEST SHOTS RIGHT UP UNDER THE BASKET.THIS GUY IS TRYING TO MAKE A NAME FOR HIMSELF TRYING TO OUTSHINE THE BIG THREE I WOULD START EDDIE HOUSE OVER TONY ALLEN ANYTIME. WE DON’T NEED ANY PLAYER LIKE THAT. IF THAT WAS THE CASE, WE SHOULD HAVE KEPT RICKY DAVIS. THE SAME THING. THATS WHY CLEVLAND GOT RID OF HIM, THEIR BOTH GOOD PLAYERS BUT YOU GOTTA KNOW YOUR ROLE YO.

I think that Tony Allen will be fine. He has a much bigger upside than Eddie House whose only skill is shooting the ball.
