Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Monday 9 November 2009 at 12:49 am

Rasheed Wallace has been giving Kevin Garnett off enough minutes to keep him fresh and he is also getting some minutes at center. Wallace has played in all 8 games (0 starts) for the Celtics this season and he is averaging 21.8 minutes, 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 steal per game. Unless the Celtics suffer any injuries on the front line they probably won’t increase Wallace’s minutes too much.

Paul Pierce continues to lead the Boston Celtics

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,NBA Blogs,Steppin Up by Andrew on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 10:20 pm

Paul Pierce has been leading the Celtics for years, and this year is no different.  With Kevin Garnett still not back to his old self yet, Pierce has been doing what it takes to keep the Celtics on top of the Eastern Conference.  The Celtics are off to a 5-0 start and Pierce is the main reason why.  He is averaging 21.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 assists.  It looks like the Pierce and the Celtics are determined to get another NBA Title.

Shelden Williams has been a pleasant surprise for the Boston Celtics so far

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 12:43 pm

Shelden Williams was an afterthought when he was signed by the Celtics over the summer. But with his solid play in the pre-season he earned a spot on the bench. He has played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Celtics so far this season and he is averaging 17.3 minutes, 7.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. The Celtics have told Williams that he has a clean slate with them and not to worry about his production problems of the past. He was a former lottery pick of the Hawks no that long ago so he has a nice upside and he will continue to get 15-20 minutes a night off the bench as long as he keeps playing well.

The Boston Celtics give Rajon Rondo a five year contract extension

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Monday 2 November 2009 at 10:53 pm

The Celtics have extended 23-year old point guard Rajon Rondo’s contract for five more years worth around $55 million bucks. Rondo has started all 4 games for the Celtics this season and he is averaging 32.5 minutes, 6.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 11.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He is in his fourth year with the Celtics and he has played in 239 games (186 starts) in which he has averaged 28.9 minutes, 9.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Rondo is worth the cash as he gives an all out effort at both ends of the basketball court all of the time.
