The Boston Celtics will be without Kevin Garnett for a couple weeks

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up by admin on Friday 31 December 2010 at 3:53 pm

The Boston Celtics will be without 34-year old power forward Kevin Garnett for the next couple of weeks due to a strained right calf.  Garnett has played in 30 games (all starts) for the Celtics so far this year and he is averaging 31.6 minutes, 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  Garnett will be missed because of his defense and rebounding.  24-year old Glen “Big Baby” Davis will need to step up with K.G. on the mend.  Davis has played in 30 games (0 starts) for the Celtics so far this year and he is averaging 29.7 minutes, 12.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  The Celtics have enough depth on the front line with Jermaine O’Neal back that they can give K.G. all of the time he needs to heal and they should be careful with him.

The Celtics didn’t play any D last night as the Pistons shot 55.7% from the floor.  The poor defense combined with the injury to Kevin Garnett did the Celtics in last night.  K.G only played 9 minutes last night in which he had 2 points and 1 rebound before leaving the game due to injury.  Paul Pierce led the way once again for the Celtics last night with 33 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals.  Ray Allen (12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists) and Glen “Big Baby” Davis (12 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal in 37 minutes) also helped out last night for the Celtics.  The Celtics are now 24-6 on the year.

The Celtics played great defense tonight holding the Pacers to 37.2% shooting from the floor and they outscored the Pacers 29-16 in the 4th quarter to pull away.  Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics in this game with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists tonight.  Ray Allen (17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists) and Glen Davis (14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) also helped out a lot in this game.  Marquis Daniels (12 points) and Kevin Garnett (11 points) pitched in for the Celtics also in this game.  The Celtics are now 25-4 on the year.

Paul Pierce has been playing “point forward” for the Boston Celtics lately

With Rajon Rondo injured and Nate Robinson not being a pass first point guard, Paul Pierce has been essentially running the “point” from his forward spot.  In his last five games, the 33-year old Pierce is averaging 38.0 minutes, 18.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game.  He has now played in 28 games (all starts) for the Celtics so far this year and he is averaging 35.4 minutes, 18.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.  Pierce has really stepped up when the Celtics needed him to as his all around game seems to keep getting better with age.

Orlando Magic 86, Boston Celtics 78

The Celtics only shot 34.6% from the floor yesterday and they were outscored 29-15 in the 4th quarter so it’s no surprise that they lost.  Kevin Garnett came to play yesterday as he finished up with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals and 1 blocked shots.  Paul Pierce also had a good game with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal.  Glen Davis played 39 minutes for the Celtics yesterday as Shaq was in foul trouble the whole time he was on the floor.  Davis only shot 4 of 12 from the floor but he still finished up with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.  The Celtics are now 23-5 on the year.

The Celtics looked flat last night but they still were good enough to hold off the Sixers.  Ray Allen led the way for the Celtics in this game with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.  Shaquille O’Neal had a really good game last night with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots in only 27 minutes on the floor.  Kevin Garnett (12 points) and Paul Pierce (11 points) pitched in while not playing their best.  The Celtics are now 23-4 on the year.

The Celtics were hot shooting the ball last night as they hit 53.9% from the floor which was a big reason for the win.  Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics in this game with a triple/double as he finished up with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.  Big Baby Davis (18 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist), Nate Robinson (18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists) and Ray Allen (17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists) also had solid offensive games for the Celtics.  The Celtics won their 13th game in a row to improve to 22-4 on the year.

The Celtics shot 53% from the floor last night and that was a big key to victory.  Glen Davis led  the way for the Celtics off the bench with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists.  Ray Allen (18 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals) and Paul Pierce (15 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 1 steal) also had solid games for the Celtics last night.  But, Kevin Garnett was a beast inside in this game as he finished up with 17 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  The Celtics are now 21-4 on the year.

The Boston Celtics lose Rajon Rondo

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Friday 17 December 2010 at 2:10 pm

The Celtics will be without starting point guard Rajon Rondo for the next couple of weeks due to a ankle injury.  Rondo has played in 20 games (all starts) so far this year for the Celtics and he is averaging 38.5 minutes, 11.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 13.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game.  Nate Robinson will take over as the starting point guard while Rondo is out of action.  He has played in 25 games (5 starts) for the Celtics so far this year and he is averaging 17.5 minutes, 7.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.  I think Robinson will do a decent job while Rondo is out of action.
