The Boston Celtics lose Chris Wilcox indefinitely

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Monday 12 March 2012 at 2:07 pm

The Celtics will be without 29-year old power forward Chris Wilcox indefinitely due to a possible heart condition.  Wilcox has played in 28 games (4 starts) for the Celtics so far this year and he is averaging 17.2 minutes, 5.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  He is shooting 59.8% from the floor for the Celtics so far this year.  23-year old rookie forward JaJuan Johnson will start getting Wilcox’ minutes.  Johnson has played in 23 games (0 starts) for the Celtics so far this year and he is averaging 9.1 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  Johnson is shooting 51.1% from the floor.  I think that Johnson is going to to a good job for the Celtics as the top big man off the bench.

UPDATE:  (3/15/2012) – Chris Wilcox will miss the remainder of the 2012 season as he need surgery on his heart.

UPDATE:  (3/23/2012) – The Celtics have waived Chris Wilcox.
