Scot Pollard will miss the remainder of the season for the Boston Celtics

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Saturday 8 March 2008 at 10:50 am

Scot Pollard will miss the remainder of the season with a torn tendon in his left ankle. He played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Celtics this year and he averaged 7.9 minutes, 1.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. The Celtics won’t miss Pollard as he wasn’t getting any playing time anyway.

Paul Pierce shut down for the last couple of games by the Boston Celtics

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 10:46 am

The Celtics have decided to shut down Paul Pierce for the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury. The fact that Pierce only played in 47 games is the single biggest reason for the awful season that the Celtics endured this year. Pierce averaged 25.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season and those numbers were way to hard for the Celtics to replace. Hopefully they’ll get lucky at Draft Lottery time.

The Boston Celtics lose forward Brian Scalabrine for the season

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 11:12 am

Brian Scalabrine is done for the season due to a hamstring injury. The Celtics didn’t need another injury as they might have to sign a few players off the street to finish the season. He played in 54 games this season and he averaged 19.0 minutes, 4.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The thing the Celtics will miss most about Scalabrine is that he’s a good outside shooter.

The Boston Celtics lose center Michael Olowokandi for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 2 April 2007 at 4:09 pm

Michael Olowokandi will miss the remainder of the season after fracturing his foot in practice. He didn’t play much this season and won’t be much of a loss to the Celtics the rest of the way. He played in 24 games for the Celtics this season and he averaged 9.7 minutes, 1.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. The Celtics should be more concerned with letting the kids play anyway so that they know who to keep and who to let go as they continue rebuilding the team.

Wally Szczerbiak has season ending surgery to his ankle

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 5 March 2007 at 12:40 am

Wally Szczerbiak had season ending ankle surgery last Thursday. The Celtics will miss his long range shooting ability, but that’s Wally’s only real skill on the basketball court. He played in 32 games and he averaged 28.1 minutes, 15.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Look for Szczerbiak to help the Celtics out next season if he’s still with the Celtics.

The Celtics suffer two huge injuries last night

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Thursday 11 January 2007 at 2:56 pm

The Celtics lost Tony Allen (torn ACL) and Brian Salabrine (knee) in last night’s ballgame. Allen was averaging 24.4 minutes, 11.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. This is a shame because he had been playing really well with his first real chance at extended minutes on the floor for the Celtics. The Celtics will also miss his great shooting touch as he had hit 51.4% of his shots from the floor.

The extent of Brian Scalabrine’s injury is not known as of right now, but he will miss alot of time. Scalabrine was averaging 15.5 minutes, 3.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game this season.

Theo Ratliff done for the season

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Monday 8 January 2007 at 11:14 pm

Veteran center Theo Ratliff elected to have back surgery and will likely miss the remainder of the season. He only played in 2 games for the Celtics this season. Michael Olowokandi will probably stick all season for the Celtics due to Ratliff being out.

Paul Pierce to miss next two weeks

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 2:00 pm

Paul Pierce will miss the next two weeks of the season with a stress reaction in his foot. Pierce is the one player that the Celtics could not afford to lose. Pierce is averaging 26.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game so far this season. Pierce also is the best three-point shooter on the team as he’s hit 40.9% of his attempts so far this season.

The Celtics can only hope to tread water until Pierce returns. Young Gerald Green will probably get alot of Pierce’s minutes, but he’s impossible to replace.

Theo Ratliff to miss a lot of time

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Monday 11 December 2006 at 11:16 pm

Theo Ratliff could be done for the season (and maybe his career) with a serious back injury. That’s too bad for Ratliff and the Celtics who could use his defensive presence.

Michael Olowokandi hurtin

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Monday 11 December 2006 at 11:14 pm

The “Candy Man” will be out until late December with an abdominal strain. He should get some PT when he returns.
