Ray Allen is in a shooting slump for the Boston Celtics

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,NBA Blogs,Need to step up by Andrew on Wednesday 18 November 2009 at 12:12 am

Ray Allen has one of the sweetest jump shots in the history of the game and is one of the best three points shooters ever, but he has been struggling lately from behind the arc.  Allen, who is a career 40% three point shooter, has not been himself lately and is one of the reasons the Celtics have lost two straight games and are 5-3 this month.  Allen is only shooting 32% from three this season and has been particularly bad this month.  In eight games this November, Allen is only 7-29 on threes which is a pathetic 24%.  Allen has only scored over 20 points once in that time span and has looked out of rhythm.  Allen is one of the best shooters of all-time though, so I don’t expect this shooting slump to last very long.  He does need to get himself out this funk soon and help Paul Pierce with the perimeter scoring.

Boston Celtics 116, Philadelphia 76ers 89

The Boston Celtics dominated the 2nd half last night as they outscored the Sixers 62-32! The Celtics shot an amazing 58.9% from the floor and 63.6% (14 of 22) from three point range. Ray Allen led the way for the Celtics with 23 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Paul Pierce backed up Allen with 22 points and 3 assists. Rajon Rondo missed the game and Eddie House started in his place and he had a good game. House scored 15 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. The Celtics improved to 32-6 on the season with this win.

Tony Allen needs to pick it up for the Boston Celtics

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 1:33 pm

Reserve guard Tony Allen was a guard the Celtics were depending on to help off of the bench this season but he still hasn’t got things together yet. He’s off to a poor start in December as he’s played in 4 games and he has averaged 17.3 minutes, 5.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He also is only shooting 35% from the floor and that just won’t get it done.

The Boston Celtics need more from Brian Scalabrine

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 4 December 2007 at 4:48 pm

Brian Scalabrine hasn’t done much for the Celtics so far this season and he could start losing playing time if he doesn’t improve. He has averaged 11.7 minutes, 2.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He also is only shooting 35% from the floor and that just won’t get it done. Glen “Big Baby” Davis will take his playing time away if he doesn’t improve soon.

Brian Scalabrine not doing much

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Sunday 11 March 2007 at 7:49 pm

The Celtics have given Scalabrine a large boost in playing time and he’s not doing much with it. In his last 6 games, Scalabrine is averaging 4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26.8 minutes. He’s also only shooting 25% from the floor over those six games and he will find himself back on the bench soon if he doesn’t improve his play on the court.

Why is Michael Olowokandi even on the Celtics roster?

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 13 February 2007 at 2:11 pm

The fact that Olowokandi is even on the Celtics roster is baffling to me. He has no future with the Celtics and he hasn’t done much when he has got on the court. He has averaged 9.9 minutes, 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this season and he’s only shooting 39.5% from the floor which is pathetic for a center. The Celtics should have given the 188 minutes that Olowokandi has played to Kendrick Perkins or Leon Powe.Â

Kendrick Perkins needs to step up

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 12:32 pm

Kendrick Perkins better step up soon or he will be nailed to the bench when Pierce and Szczerbiak return from their injuries. Perkins lost his starting job to Al Jefferson but he’s getting expanded minutes due to all the injuries that have hit the Celtics. In his last 7 games, he’s averaged 21.1 minutes, 3.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Those numbers are pathetic for a player of his size. It almost seems like he’s just going thru the motions on the basketball court.

The Celtics need more from Sebastian Telfair

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Sunday 14 January 2007 at 6:51 pm

The Celtics thought that all Sebastian Telfair needed was a change of scenery and extended minutes to blossom as a player. To this point in the season the Celtics were wrong in their assessment. Telfair has played in 36 games and he’s averaging 27 minutes, 8.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season. He’s also been a poor shooter as he’s only hit 39.6% of his shots from the floor this season. He also should quit shooting three-pointers for awhile as he’s only hit 19 of 73 (26%) of them.  The Celtics really need Telfair to play better because of all the injuries that have beset them this season. He must make better decisions with the ball and must take better shots. Without good point guard play the young Celtics will continue to have problems scoring points.
