The Boston Celtics picked E’Twaun Moore in the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL Draft

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by admin on Friday 24 June 2011 at 3:50 pm

The Boston Celtics took 22-year old, 6’4″, 191 pound shooting guard E’Twaun Moore in the 2nd round of the 2011 NBA Draft (#55 overall).  Moore played in 34 games at Purdue last year and he averaged 33.9 minutes, 18.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  Moore played in 140 games in his four years in college and he averaged 32.3 minutes, 15.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  This was another solid pick for the Celtics who will likely give him quite a few minutes behind Ray Allen in 2011-12.

The Boston Celtics picked JaJuan Johnson in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by admin on Friday 24 June 2011 at 3:46 pm

The Celtics initially picked SG Marshon Brooks with the 25th overall pick.  They then dealt him to the Nets for the 27th overall pick (JaJuan Johnson) and a 2nd round pick in 2014.  22-year old 6’10″, 221 pound power forward JaJuan Johnson came to the Celtics with the 27th overall pick.  Johnson played in 34 games at Purdue last year and he averaged 35.4 minutes, 20.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 2.3 blocked shots per game.  Johnson played in 140 games in his four years in college and he averaged 27.5 minutes, 13.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.9 blocked shots per game.  Johnson will likely get right on the floor and give the Celtics good minutes off the bench starting in 2011-12.  He could develop into a starter down the road for the Celtics.

The Boston Celtics hope to find a couple solid players on Thursday in the NBA Draft

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by admin on Monday 20 June 2011 at 7:24 pm

The Boston Celtics have the #25 and #55 picks in the 2011 NBA Draft this Thursday Night.  The Celtics really need a center so they will consider taking Jordan Williams out of Maryland at #25.  SFs Marcus Morris and Tyler Honeycutt are also likely on the Celtics’ radar.  PF Trey Tompkins is also a possibility as the Celtics need to start watching the minutes of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jermaine O’Neal in 2011-12.  The Celtics might also take a big man with the #55 pick in the NBA Draft.

Game #2: Boston Celtics 96, New York Knicks 93

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General,The Draft Report by admin on Wednesday 20 April 2011 at 11:54 am

The Celtics were outrebounded 53-37 last night but they held the Knicks to 35.6% shooting from the floor which was a big key to this win.  Rajon Rondo led the way for the Celtics last night with 30 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.  Paul Pierce (20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) and Ray Allen (18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals) also had solid games for the Celtics last night.  Kevin Garnett pitched in with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot last night.  The Celtics are now up 2-0 in this series.

The Boston Celtics select Luke Harangody in the second round

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Friday 25 June 2010 at 2:25 pm

The Celtics have selected 22-year old forward Luke Harangody with the 52nd overall pick of the NBA Draft. Harangody played in 30 games (25 starts) for Notre Dame last season and he averaged 21.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He played in 129 games (108 starts) in his college career and he averaged 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. This was a solid pick for the Celtics as Harangody could help them off the bench next season.

The Boston Celtics pick Avery Bradley in the first round

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Thursday 24 June 2010 at 10:14 pm

The Celtics have picked 19-year old point guard Avery Bradley with the 19th overall pick of the NBA Draft. Bradley played in 34 games (32 starts) for Texas last season and he averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The Celtics will have Bradley learn behind Rajon Rondo for a while. Bradley is too small at 6’2″, 180 pounds to consider using him at shooting guard. Bradley has a nice upside so I like this pick for the Celtics even if it doesn’t fill a need.

The Boston Celtics will be looking for offense in tomorrow night’s NBA Draft

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 June 2010 at 1:44 pm

With Ray Allen and Paul Pierce not locks to come back for the 2010-11 season the Celtics will need to pick either a SG or a SF with their first round pick. They pick #19 and #52 in tomorrow night’s NBA Draft. The Celtics only have six players under contract right now and cut that number to 5 if Rasheed Wallace is going to retire. The good news for the Celtics is that SF Damion Jones or SG Xavier Henry should be available when they pick in the first round.

2. (58) Lester Hudson, SG

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Saturday 27 June 2009 at 2:55 pm

The Boston Celtics selected 24-year old shooting guard Lester Hudson with the 58th pick in the NBA Draft. Hudson played in 124 games in four years at SW Tennessee Community College and Tennessee-Martin in which he averaged 21.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game. The Celtics really hope that Hudson can handle the gigantic bump in competition.

2. (60) Semih Erden, C

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Saturday 28 June 2008 at 12:10 pm

The Celtics took a flier on Erden with the last pick in the NBA Draft. Erden is a 6’11″, 240 pound center from Turkey. He has a lot of pro experience overseas but he wasn’t that productive. Erden has played in 132 games (93 starts) in pro ball overseas and he has averaged 5.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He is a longshot to ever get on the court for the Celtics.

2. (47) Bill Walker, SG

Blogged under Big Celtics News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Saturday 28 June 2008 at 12:08 pm

The Celtics acquried shooting guard Bill Walker from the Wizards for cold, hard cash. Walker is 6’6″, 220 pounds and he has a lot of the same skills as J.R. Giddens (the Celtics’ first round pick). Walker played in 37 games (33 starts) at Kansas State and he averaged 15.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Walker will likely have to fight for every minute he gets as a rookie for the Celtics.
